Having a pool is great - until it breaks. Fixing problems in a pool can be a time consuming and expensive experience if you don't know what you're doing. Luckily, we're here to help. Here are some of the most common pool electrical issues and how we can help you deal with them.

Underwater Bulbs Burning Out

If you have lights in your pool, they will need to be replaced on a regular basis. While most pool lights are good for up to five years, sometimes the chemicals of the pool can eat away at the electric cord in the back of the light. This allows water to get into the light and shorts out the bulb. Additional problems can include a short in the wire, a broken switch, or a bad breaker panel.

The best way to fix an underwater bulb that has burned out is to replace the whole fixture, as this will prevent water from leaking in and burning out the new bulb just as quickly. Additionally, you can check and test the wiring leading to the bulb and from the house to make sure it is all working properly.

If you do end up getting your pool lights replaced, we offer spectacular new LED color changing lights for a beautiful effect. We can even add outdoor lights around your pool or deck to provide a perfect atmosphere for night swimming. We bulk order professional landscaping lights to provide you with the lowest price possible.

Automation Issues

Pool automation uses digital microprocessors to monitor the pH levels of your pool and adjust the chemical balance if necessary. While this is a great time saving feature, it can cause a lot of problems if things go wrong.

Sometimes, the microchips involved in monitoring the pool can go bad and need to be replaced. Additionally, if the automation system is not wireless, it is possible that a wire has come loose somewhere along the way.

Luckily, if you are experiencing any problems with your automation, we can help to troubleshoot and repair automation pool panels to get them working again.

Problems with the Pump

The biggest problems people face with their pool are often with their pumps and motors. Often times, the pump will stop working entirely or only function at a very low level. One of the biggest causes of electrical malfunction with a pump is a loose connection. There can also be a blow fuse in the power board of the motor, voltage fluctuations that prevent the pump from working right, or problems with the wiring.

There could also be electrical problems with the pump timer clock, the circuit breaker for the pool timer clock, the motor disconnect switch, or the wires to the motor. If any of these are not receiving the correct voltage, things can go haywire, causing the pump to malfunction.

If this all sounds too confusing to investigate on your own, don't worry. David Gray Electrical Services can help troubleshoot many different pool problems and offer solutions to get your pool back to normal. Just give us a call to have a technician come out and investigate why your pool isn't working.
